NOVA

Install or update firmware on your LUMINA NOVA sky monitor. Supports ESP32 DevKit and ESP32-C3 Super Mini — plug in USB and install; the tool detects your chip. Use a laptop, a USB data cable, and this page’s official HTTPS address.

Before You Start

Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows, macOS, or Chromebook (not a phone or tablet).

  • Close any serial monitor or terminal connected to the board — only one app can use the USB port.
  • If a previous attempt failed, use Connection Stuck? Reset below, then try again.

Update or Factory Reset

  • Update (recommended) — Connect USB and install. Leave Erase device unchecked. Keeps Wi‑Fi, location, time, and saved sky history on the device.
  • Factory reset — Tick Erase device in the installer. Erases the device storage, then installs fresh firmware.
Your browser cannot install on ESP32 / ESP32-C3 devices. Please use Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop.
This installer only works on a secure HTTPS link. Ask your teacher for the correct URL — saving this page or using an insecure address will not work.

After Install — Setup Wi‑Fi

  1. Join the device’s LUMINA-NOVA-xxxx setup Wi‑Fi (open until you set a password) or your saved home network.
  2. On setup Wi‑Fi, open http://192.168.4.1. On home Wi‑Fi, use the address shown in the serial monitor (115200 baud) or http://lumina-nova.local.
  3. In Settings, set location, date & time, and home Wi‑Fi if needed.

USB Install Steps

  1. Plug in the board with a USB data cable.
  2. Click Connect & Install Firmware and select your board’s serial port.
  3. Wait until the installer shows success, then follow After Install — Setup Wi‑Fi above.

Quick Help

  • Serial port in use — Close the serial monitor, click Connection Stuck? Reset, unplug USB for 5 seconds.
  • No port listed — Try another cable or USB port; on Windows you may need CP210x or CH340 drivers.
  • Install hangs — Hold the board’s BOOT button while starting the install.
